Keep your kitty safe with these tips
Whether you’re bringing a new cat into your home or have been cohabiting with your kitty for many happy years, it’s important to keep in mind how you can make your home as safe as possible for your furry friend. That’s why today, we’re sharing some simple tips for cat-proofing your home.
Cats are very curious creatures, so it’s good to minimise risks by limiting their access to potentially harmful substances and electrical wires. Wires can be tidied away under rugs and behind furniture, while cleaning products and medicines should be stowed away into cupboards your cat can’t pry open. Foods to keep away from your kitty include any caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as well as grapes, raisins, raw eggs and chocolate.
Teaching your kids how to interact with the family pet is also important. Show them how to pet your kitty properly and how to read their body language so that they know that hissing, a wagging tail or down-turned ears mean a cat would rather be left alone. Make sure they don’t bother their kitty friend while they’re sleeping and teach them responsible pet ownership by helping them put down food and fresh water for your cat.
