Our Grain Free Senior Dog Food has 50% meat or fish content, which is rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals, essential for  growth and development. The protein is highly digestible and palatable.  Added omega 3 supports cognitive function, visual development and helps reduce the inflammation response which causes sensitive tummies. Grain free offers your pet a much more natural diet, Dogs & Cats wouldn’t naturally eat grain, so why make them eat it in your home?

The older dog can often have problems with joints and inflammation, we therefore add Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulphate & MSM – To help promote joint repair and mobility in the aging pet.

Aging / Senior dogs are also prone to weight gain, as a result of their decreasing mobility, so we add L-Carnitine , to help maintain a healthy weight and promote lean muscle development

What is Deano's Grain Free Senior Dog Food?

Grain free dog food is becoming a popular choice of Dog & Cat food in the UK. It doesn’t contain any cereal grains, which are usually used as fillers. Cereal grains include corn, wheat, barley, and rice.

We don’t agree with bulking food out with fillers that serve no nutritional purpose.  Instead, our grain free pet food is high in real meat products (not rendered by-products) and protein, as well as easy-to-digest animal fats. Some of our recipes contain vegetables, such as potatoes or sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are a complex carbohydrate, and slowly release energy.

Why Go Grain Free?

Deano's Grain free senior food closely mimics their ancestral diet. Their diet in the wild would primarily contain meat based proteins and a few fruits and veggies. Giving food that matches this formula allows your pet to absorb the most nutrition, since their stomachs and digestive system is not made to handle grains. In foods containing grain, the animal must eat much more of the food to get the full nutrition they need

Another issue with grains in pet food is how it is processed. Eating a grain loaded diet, would be like humans eating fast food/takeaways every day, raising blood sugar & depositing fat

How Do I Switch My pet to Deano's Grain Free Senior Dog Food?

While a dog's ancestral diet is closely mimicked by grain free foods, they can have temporary stomach problems if you do not switch foods carefully. A gradual change in your pets diet will allow his/her system to get used to this new food, thereby preventing any stomach upsets.

The best way to introduce a grain free dog food to your pets diet is to slowly mix the new grain free dog food in with usual diet. Each meal time, add a little more Deanos grain free, and a little less of their usual food. Do this until the entire meal is purely Deanos Grain Free.

Depending on your dog's sensitivity to change, it could take a week or more to get your pet completely switched over. Watch your pets behaviour and note any unusual gas or diarrhoea to determine if you are switching too fast.

In most cases, there will be no issues at all during switching, as long as it’s a gradual process.
